How they use Tavily
Together AI uses Tavily for web search and page retrieval in its Open Deep Research workflow. The open-source implementation plans searches, collects sources, checks for knowledge gaps and iterates before writing research reports. Together AI says Tavily returns raw page content in a single call, avoiding separate search and scraping steps.
The team evaluated the workflow on 150 questions sampled from FRAMES, SimpleQA and HotPotQA. It also tested the effect of multiple search steps and gave its SmolAgents comparison agent access to a Tavily search tool. The released repository includes Tavily API key configuration.
