How they use Tavily
Merge Gateway calls Tavily Search on a model’s behalf when Tavily is selected for its hosted web search tool. Gateway returns search results to the model and provides answers with URL citations. Searches can run on Merge-managed credentials and be billed through a Merge account, without a separate Tavily account.
Merge documents Tavily as one of Gateway’s automatically selected search engines. Users can explicitly select Tavily, supply their own key, configure fallback engines and request advanced search. Its Gateway changelog announces Tavily availability with zero data retention.
Merge also offers access to Tavily through Agent Handler and Workforce. Agent Handler proxies calls to Tavily’s hosted MCP server and handles authentication, tool access controls and audit logging. Workforce lists Tavily search, extraction, crawling, mapping and research tools. Separately, Merge is named as a partner for the San Francisco Builders & Brews event hosted by Nebius and Tavily.
