How they use Tavily
GroundRoute uses Tavily as one of six search providers behind its AI-agent search service. Its documentation places Tavily between Perplexity and Exa in the default answer-query routing order. The router selects an eligible engine with a usable key and attempts one synchronous failover after an error.
GroundRoute supports customer-supplied Tavily keys alongside managed searches using GroundRoute's platform keys. Its Tavily explainer describes routing suitable queries to Tavily, with caching, failover, spend caps and a shared result schema. GroundRoute also documents access through a hosted MCP server and a Langflow component. Its MCP page describes routing each query class to the cheapest engine that clears its quality bar.
In its June 14, 2026 benchmark, GroundRoute tested Tavily alongside five other search APIs on 170 synthetic queries. It reported Tavily median latency of 1,407 milliseconds and an indicative overall relevance score of 83%. Quality judging covered a 62-query subset. Tavily's indicative direct-answer relevance score was 82%, based on 14 judged queries. The report describes testing on real partner traffic as a planned follow-up.
