How they use Tavily
Fieldway used Tavily through its MCP server in Claude Code to build an eight-step research agent for consulting work. Its June 2026 case study describes live web retrieval, cited synthesis and citation checks using Haiku. Tavily reported that a five-hour research cycle fell to about 25 minutes, with single-digit rejected citations among 400–500 citations. Tavily’s June update reported that the previous Perplexity workflow produced hallucinations in the 50% range. On a bank competitive-analysis project, Tavily-grounded research surfaced previously untracked competition and helped reduce a three-to-four-week engagement to 10 hours. The agent also used over 40 research documents, a 16,000-row CRM, sales collateral and customer interview transcripts. Tavily’s July update described that competitor as the actual source of the bank’s churn.
The June case study stated that all research and new client engagements then ran on Tavily, and that Fieldway was extending the system into a managed intelligence service. In September, Fieldway’s CEO compared Tavily with Exa on three client research projects covering apprenticeship pathways, a B2B ideal-customer profile and a competitive landscape. He reported that Exa was cheaper, faster and more complete in those tests. Tavily found more unique domains in every test and supplied more raw sources per finding. Both providers’ runs verified citations through curl rather than either provider’s extraction API. Tavily’s cited links resolved more reliably in the competitive-landscape test, although that advantage reversed on another project.
